The Egg of the World is my guide to gaming in the World of Tékumel. I have been working on it since 2011, but only in earnest since October 2021. It started as a thread of discussion on the ODD74 Discussion Board, “You, too, CAN run Empire of the Petal Throne” back in August 2011, but I put the project down for a decade, concentrating on other things. I returned to it in October 2021, and it quickly expanded from the 40+ pages of the material on the ODD74 board to 225 pages (the green playtest version above) and then 255 pages (the revised purple version).

James Maliszewski, after reading it, told me that The Egg of the World was the “Dungeon Master’s Guide for Empire of the Petal Throne” and I think that is an apt description. It certainly reflects my intention to demystify the World of Tékumel, and make it accessible to modern tabletop roleplayers.

Things were delayed by the passing of my mother in early 2023, but I have been able to get back to work on it more recently. I am working with a content advisor and an editor to knock things into shape, and also working on art direction for the book. I hope to be able to publish it later this year.
